I am interested in deciphering complex signaling pathways during cell migration and phagocytosis, through the combination of protein engineering, advanced microscopy, and computational analysis (deep learning). My current projects involve engineering biosensors to illuminate the activation kinetics of GTPase and Src family kinases at the single-molecule level. These include designs based on incorporation of novel organic dyes within cells. I am also developing optogenetic tools to interrogate the propagation and cross talk of different signaling cascades involved in phagocytosis. I built several microscopes in the Hahn lab, including spinning-TIRF, a scanning module for optogenetics, light-sheet, and single-molecule spectrum imaging microscopes.
